Mechanics 101 Part II By Becky Davidson October 2nd, 2000
Part I of Mechanics 101 briefly outlined the basic mechanics for both the plate and base umpires. Admittedly those mechanics are very basic, but whether you're an avid golfer or a concert pianist, it is always wise to revisit the basic fundamentals that got you where you are today. Professional athletes do not compete at a high level day in and day out unless they practice the very fundamentals involved in their sport. Similarly, we as umpires cannot expect to continue to improve our game unless we practice the basic mechanics that communicate our calls. Join Becky for Part II. |
